All Incoming 2017-2018 School Year 9th-12th Grade Students and Their Parents

TO: All Incoming 2017-2018 School Year 9th-12th Grade Students and Their Parents

I’m sure everyone is looking forward to summer vacation, and hope it will be enjoyable and relaxing. With the beginning of summer break, we would like our parents and athletes to attend a parents’ meeting scheduled for May 22, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. in the school cafeteria. By attending this meeting, many of the questions that you have concerning the school’s summer athletic program will be answered. The coaches will be presenting schedules for weight training, open gym, camps, and traveling teams. The coaching philosophies and team expectations of our coaches will be addressed, and you will have an opportunity to directly ask questions to the leaders of our athletic programs.

Thanks for all your support!

Trout in the Classroom – Fifth grade class

The fifth grade class has been participating in the Trout in the Classroom program this year.  As part of the program, we received trout from Nebraska Game & Parks to dissect. It was a quite smelly, but we had a lot of fun learning and getting a close up look at the anatomy of a trout.  Trout in the Classroom (TIC) is an environmental education program in which students in grades 4-5 . . .

  • raise trout from eggs to fry.
  • monitor tank water quality.
  • engage in stream habitat study.
  • learn to appreciate water resources.
  • begin to foster a conservation ethic.
  • grow to understand ecosystems.

Trout In The Classroom is funded by a number of generous supporters.

National Walk at Lunch Day on Wednesday, April 26th. Families are invited to walk too!!

Take the pledge to stand up and walk with us for the 11th annual National Walk at Lunch Day on Wednesday, April 26.  Tens of thousands of walkers participated nationwide in last year’s event and we hope you’ll help make this year an even bigger success.  Did you know Americans spend an average of 13 hours a day sitting? Standing up once an hour can improve your health, and walking for just 30 minutes a day can reduce the risk of chronic illnesses, improve muscle tone and reduce stress!  This is a great way to promote physical activity and is in line with our new Wellness Policy that will take effect on June 30th. Also, BCBSNE will donate $20 for every group/school/ organization, and $1 for every individual who registers to Special Olympics Nebraska. New this year for schools, one lucky participating school will receive a $1,000 grant for their physical education department.
Elementary students and staff will walk from 12:00 to 12:30, and middle/high school students and staff can join during that time or walk after their own lunch time. Families are invited to walk with their students! We will plan to walk on the football field, or if weather is crumby, we can walk in Lister Sage.
