Book Fair Coming!
The book fair is coming! Join us at the book fair January 29th – February 1st. You are welcome to come, browse, and make purchases after school until 5:15 PM on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday and until 8 PM on Thursday. We have new ways to pay this year! We will be taking cash, check, credit cards, and eWallet.
What is eWallet you ask? It is a safe and easy way to send your student to school with “money” towards books. Parents, Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles can get online through the eWallet link and put money into an account for a student to use at the book fair. You will be able to print off a scan sheet or just let the school know and we can access to see how much they have to spend. This would also be a great way to make a donation to a classroom teacher for them to spend on books to keep in the classroom for students to read!
The book fair is a great way to support our library. All proceeds made from the book fair go towards purchasing new books for the library.

Late Start – Tuesday, Jan. 16
Tomorrow, 1/16 Hay Springs Schools will have a 10 am late start due to cold temperatures and blowing/drifting snow. NO AM PRESCHOOL. Bus route will run as usual. ML/HS classes will start with 3rd hour. Students please dress warm and bundle up. Parents, if you feel your roads are to bad and/or temperatures are too cold and your child(ren) needs to stay home please let the school know. Thank you for you understanding.
No School – January 15
Due to extreme cold temperatures school will be canceled tomorrow, January 15. STAY HOME AND STAY SAFE!
Junior High Boys Basketball Games
-The Junior High Boys Basketball game scheduled for 1/11 has been changed to Thursday 1/18 at 2:00 PM at Cody-Kilgore. First B game, then A game.
-The Junior High Boys Basketball game scheduled for 1/13 has been changed to Friday 1/26 at 1:00 PM at Hay Springs.
No Activities And No Practices
Due to the extremely cold temperatures and wind chill, Hay Springs Public School will NOT be having any games or matches(neither Junior High nor High School) this Saturday, Jan. 13. There will be no activities or practices this weekend. Postponement information will be published as soon as it becomes available. There will be no Wrestling match in Martin, SD on Saturday either.
Activity Postponements/Reschedules
-The Cody-Kilgore basketball games have been postponed from today(1/11) to Tuesday, Jan. 16. Here are the times for those games:
JV boys at 3:30 PM (2 quarters, no girls JV)
Varsity girls: 4:00 PM
Varsity boys: 5:30 PM
The JH game will be rescheduled for another time. Their team has another game that day. Stay tuned for more info!
-The Bennett County Wrestling Invite has been postponed from Saturday, Jan. 13 to Saturday, Feb. 10 as of right now, but subject to change.
School and Activities canceled for today 01/11/24
Due to cold and snow and wind, there will be NO SCHOOL today 1/11/2024. ALL activities/practices are cancelled for today. Please stay warm and safe!
Oregon Trail Honor Band
On Monday, January 8th, three Hay Springs music students attended the Oregon Trail Honor Band(Abigail Russell – flute, Abigail Nelson – trumpet, and Julia Russell – trumpet). The band was directed by Doane University’s director of bands, Andrew Feyes, and hosted by Bridgeport High school. The band rehearsed from 9:30-4:30 and held a concert at 5pm.
