Third Grade Poster Designer

The Third Grade classroom is excited to announce that Willow Frink received a certificate for third place in the local Upper Niobrara White Natural Resources District’s 2021 Local Poster Contest. This year’s theme was titled “Healthy Forests Healthy Communities”. Congratulations Willow!

First Grade Tech

The First Grade classroom is integrating some new technology pieces this year. They received an iPad and Osmo Genius gaming system. This week they began exploring the Tangram game during work stations . Students build and work through different puzzles. The Osmo system projects their work onto the screen and turns the 2D image into an animated character when they work through it correctly. It has been a lot of fun so far!

5th Grade Pumpkin Investigation

Fifth grade got their hands dirty with some pumpkin math! Before digging into their pumpkins, they counted the lines, found the circumference, weight and height, and observed if pumpkins sink or float when submerged in water. Then they dig in and counted how many seeds their pumpkin had. According to the data they collected, they concluded that the greater the circumference, the greater the number of seeds.

Breakfast of Champions

Last week at our assembly, students who earned Hawk Bucks (positive reward tickets) during the first quarter were eligible to be put in a drawing to attend the Breakfast of Champions. Each Hawk Buck earned was put into the drawing. This week elementary students who were selected attended the Breakfast of Champions on Wednesday. Middle level students who were selected attended on Thursday along with our High School Student of the Month nominees. Students invited an adult guest to enjoy donuts and juice as well as play games. Thank you to everyone who was able to join us!

Space Day

Fifth graders recently attended Launching Nebraska-Nauts into the 4-C’able Future. We had a full day learning about space exploration, listening to real life astronauts in space, utilizing critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity to accomplish tasks, and hearing from business and industry professionals. We appreciate the Nebraska Extension and 4-H staff for hosting this event and allowing us to experience a once in a lifetime opportunity.
