Field Trip

Kindergarten and 1st graders took a trip to Chadron State College to visit the Mari Sandoz center. They have a very interactive Sun, Moon and Star exhibit that we enjoyed. We were also able to hike to the labyrinth.

St. Patrick’s Day Activities

The 6th grade careers and tech class has been busy planning and creating rotation stations for the first grade class.  The 6th graders led the 1st graders through a series of activities including a scavenger hunt, minute to win it challenges, stories, and much more!  The celebration concluded with homemade cupcakes made by the 6th grade class.

Angelman Syndrome Awareness Day

Today we had a special guest. Ava and her sisters and mom shared a story with our class about how we are the same and different. We talked about how we like to do many of the same things as Ava!  We also learned how she communicates with her eyes and how she is learning to communicate with a device as well! Many of our staff and students wore blue today for Angelman Syndrome Awareness day today. Thank you Stock family for sharing with us!

5th Grade Trout

Our trout in 5th grade are quickly growing. Most of them are swimming now. They are still contained in the feeding basket as they are now learning to eat. Once they are eating, we will release them into the tank. Towards the end of the video, there are a couple of trout that seem to be curved and swim in tight circles. These trout were born with a deformity. We usually have a couple in each hatch. I have found that these trout rarely survive.

Ground Hog Day Celebration!

The Hay Springs Public School PK-5th grades enjoyed a Ground Hog Day celebration this morning…or rather a “Hound Dog Day” celebration…with a special visitor!  After learning about the weather outlook for the next 6 weeks, the kids had some yummy treats before returning to their room.  A huge thank you to Mrs. Weyers for organizing this warm and wonderful event on such a cold day!
