Student Checkout May 24, 2012

Each student grades K-12 will receive a check-out slip. Outstanding obligations will be added to the students check-out slip by the corresponding sponsor, librarian, teacher, etc; therefore the office will not be able to tell you what your child owes.

  • The Librarian will collect payment for lost or damaged books.
  • The Athletic Director will collect payment for missing uniforms, etc.
  • Mrs. Palmer will collect Hot Lunch money.

Each fee must be paid separately to the appropriate person/department!

Physical Form

Best of the West

The Best of the West was held at Scottsbluff Bearcat Stadium on Tuesday, April 24th. This meet is invite only of the best 8 in the West.

Qualifiers:

  • 4x800M Girls- Kerisa Marx, Jennifer Scherbarth, Brittany Ferguson, and Jerilyn Scherbarth- 4th place with 10:54
  • Triple Jump- Austin Weyers- 6th place with 41’0.5
  • High Jump- John Rotness- 9th with 5’8
  • 110mH-Stevin Horrocks- 1st with 15.72 and 4th in 300mH with 41.11 (Stevin broke our school record w/ his time!)

They only medal the top 3 in each event. I was very pleased with our athletes attempts and accomplishments at this meet. It is a honor to be invited. When you are a Class D school competing against B C and D and still place in the top of your events, that is a great accomplishment for you as an athlete.

FCA Fun Night Event

Fellowship of Christian Athletes has planned their next fun night for Monday, April 30th beginning at 6:00 p.m. or after sports practices. EVERYONE grades 6-12 is welcome. Join us on the football field!

Children’s Book Drive

Hay Springs Public Schools has demonstrated outstanding test scores on our standardized tests. To continue these test scores, the sixth graders feel that it’s important  for our younger students to actively read over the summer.

The sixth grade class is organizing a book drive for the Hay Springs Elementary and preschools. We are asking the middle level and high school students and staff to participate by bringing two or more gently used children’s books to distribute to the Elementary and preschool students to read over the summer.

We are taking book donations until May 11. You may bring the books to Ms. Bila’s room.

2012-2013 Class Registration

Students going into 9th through 12th grades will register for classes during the Academic Fair on May 15, 2012. Remember that a parent must be present and sign the form before the student is officially registered. If you are unable to register during the Academic Fair, please call Mrs. Marx at the school to make an appointment.

Going on a Field Trip

The elementary students, in grades Kindergarten through 5th, will be going on a field trip to Wind Cave National Park and Mount Rushmore National Monument on Wednesday, May 9, 2012. The bus will leave at 8:00 am and will arrive back to the school at 6:00 pm. The trip is free of charge to the students, but each child needs to dress appropriately and bring a sack lunch for the day.

The average temperature in the Wind Cave is about 60 degrees Farenheit, so students need to bring a jacket or sweatshirt and wear comfortable walking shoes. There are no FLIP-FLOPS allowed in the Wind Cave.

We are looking forward to having a fabulous day of fun and education!
