One of the highlights of the Trout in the Classroom program is dissecting trout. Last Thursday, fifth graders rolled up their sleeves and got their hands dirty while learning about the internal anatomy of a Rainbow Trout. They identified the major internal organs such as the heart, kidney, stomach, and intestines, while also getting a closer look at the gills and spherical lens that helps trout see in all directions.

Summer Open Gym Schedule
Weight lifting – Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesday 5:00 pm
Varsity Volleyball – Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:00 pm
Girls and Boys Basketball – Mondays and Wednesdays 6:00 PM
Football – Tuesdays 6:00 pm field work
Girls Wrestling open mat – Tuesdays at 6:30 pm
Boy Wrestling open mat – Thursdays at 6:30 PM

*Open gym will begin on Tuesday, May 30th.

Camps
Varsity Girls Basketball camp in Spearfish will be June 23-25
Varsity Boys Basketball camp in Spearfish will be June 16-18
Varsity Boys Football camp in Chadron will be June 12-15
Varsity Wrestling camp in Chadron will be June 19-21

Prep Sports All-Star Game

Congratulations to Sam Toof and Ron Olson for being selected to participate in the 29th Annual Panhandle Prep Sports Magazine All-Star Game on Friday, May 26th, 2023, at Scottsbluff High School! Sam will be playing on the RED team and Ron will be coaching. Tip off for the girls game is scheduled for 5:30 PM with the boys game to follow. There will be a dunk contest at halftime of the girls game and a 3-point contest immediately following the girls game. Also, there is a scholarship presentation at halftime of the boys game.

Elementary HAL Trip

On Monday, May 15th, the elementary HAL group traveled to Rapid City for the end-of-year field trip. Our first stop was Outdoor Campus where we  learned about different habitats and adaptations found in the Black Hills and Badlands. Then we went fishing in the pond located at the Outdoor Campus. We caught a variety of fish and even saw a huge snapping turtle! After a quick lunch at Pizza Ranch, we tested our skills at an escape room. Although we didn’t get out in the hour time limit, we had fun!
