The doors will open to the public at 8:15 p.m. to attend the Grand March and parent dance ONLY. All public, including parents, are asked to leave immediately following the parent dance so that the students can enjoy spending the evening with their classmates and friends. This is a reminder to parents and students that only students in grades 9-12 are eligible to attend prom. In addition, 9th & 10th grade students must be eligible the week of April 25th in order to attend prom.

Track Apparel Store

Due to multiple requests we are reopening the track store. It will be open until Thursday, April 28th. I can not guarantee you will get the clothing before track is over. I will say I am very happy with the quality of the clothing that came in. The windsuit and sweats would be good for next season to have while it is cold. I also have some jackets for athletes to try on if you are interested in getting them a jacket.

Personal Finance Challenge

Hay Springs Public School won the Western Division of the Nebraska Personal Finance Challenge sponsored by the Nebraska Council on Economic Education. The first round is a test of 30 questions and students have 30 minutes to complete the test. Based on the test scores, students are then placed first by region and then across the entire state.

The Hay Springs team which consisted of Gabe Varvel, Ashley Tobiasson, Sam Hindman, and Kaden Langford completed this year. The students ranked first in the Western Region and third in the entire state. There were a total of 226 teams in the High School division: 67 in Lincoln, 62 in Omaha, and 97 in Western Nebraska.

These students can compete at the next level on April 29, 2022, in Kearney. They will be given a hypothetical family scenario and have to put together a family budget for the family. This budget should show how to get the family out of debt. If they place first in the state at this competition they would then advance to the national completion.

District Music Contest Results

We also had 2 outstanding performers, Sam Hindman on his tenor sax solo and Kaden Langford on his vocal solo. If you see any of these students, make sure to congratulate them for all their hard work!
