The Bennett County Junior High Track and Field Meet scheduled for Thursday, April 24 has been postponed to May 5 due to the impending inclement weather. Unfortunately, there is a high school track meet on May 5 and no available transportation for the junior high, so Hay Springs will not be attending the Bennett County Meet.
Despite the cold weather, the Hay Springs Track team did very well at the Alliance Track Meet today:

-The 2025 Prom will be held in the auditorium on May 3rd. The Grand March will be held in the auditorium beginning at 8:30. The doors will open to the public at 8:15 p.m. to attend the Grand March and parent dance ONLY. All public, including parents, are asked to leave immediately following the parent dance so that the students can enjoy spending the evening with their classmates and friends.
-Due to Spring sports scheduling, we have changed the dates of the awards ceremonies. The new dates and times are as follows:
May 5th – Middle School Awards (Academic and Extra-Curricular) @ 3:15 in Auditorium
May 6th – High School Awards (Academic and Extra-Curricular) @ 6:30 in Auditorium
The Bridgeport Golf invite scheduled for tomorrow(Thursday, Apr. 17) has been cancelled due to the forecast.
The second grade class has started the embryology project. “The embryology project is a hands-on, school enrichment program where youth learn about embryonic development by hatching chicks in the classroom.”
Melissa Mracek from the Nebraska Extension Office is providing all the necessary information and tools to teach us about this project. In roughly twenty-one days, we are hoping to have chicks. As a class, we are very eager to learn how this process works. A huge thanks goes to Melissa for bringing this fun project into our classroom.
Due to concerns about weather on Thursday, Apr. 17, the Alliance Invitational Track Meet scheduled for that day will be doing a Finals Only schedule for the running events. Here is the new schedule:
Junior High had a great day at the Bayard JH Track Meet on Monday, Apr. 14. We had several students receive medals and even more PR in their events. The boys finished in 5th place among 15 teams in attendance.

Braxton Spicer: 1st-Long Jump, 1st-100m

Sawyer Davis: 3rd-Shot Put
The FBLA team completed State FBLA in Kearney, NE over the last few days and had great success. We have two national qualifiers.
Lilly Dorshorst placed 1st in Spreadsheet Applications, 4th place in UX Design, and an honorable mention in Computer Problem Solving.
Jacob Dorshorst received 1st place in Introduction to Business Communications and 2nd place in Introduction to Business Processes.
The entire team did a great job representing Hay Springs!
