FBLA News

The month of April was a busy one for Hay Springs FBLA; the first week in April we attended the State Leadership Conference which is State for FBLA. We took six members to Omaha where we competed; it was definitely a learning experience for our students. They all learned a few new things and enjoyed themselves, along with making some new friends.

The Hay Springs High School Personal Finance class, Intro to Business, and Accounting participated in the Personal Finance Challenge and took first place in our region. This allowed the students to move onto the next level of competition which took place in Kearney. There, the students competed against five teams and unfortunately we did not finish in the top three. We gained a great deal of insight for next year’s competition.

Family Math Night

The 6th annual Family Math Night will take place on Thursday, April 25th from 6:30 to 7:30 in Lister Sage. This is a collaborative event between Hay Springs Schools and Chadron State College. Pre-service teachers from CSC, under the direction of Dr. Beth Wentworth, plan and organize engaging, interactive math games for elementary and middle school students. The goal behind Family Math Night is for families to play games and have fun while doing math together. Parents are their child’s most important teacher. Family Math Night provides opportunities for parents to support their child in their mathematical learning. We hope to see you all there!
