Angelman Syndrome Awareness
February 15th is Angelman Syndrome Awareness Day. On Tuesday, February 17th, our students and staff came together to celebrate our own Angelman’s Superhero, Ava. Our team of specialists shared their special role in Ava’s education. Ava was also joined by her classmates, parents, sisters, and two special family members, her dogs Flashy and Bear.
New Superintendent Hired
Hay Springs Public School is excited to announce the hiring of Dr. Sadie Coffey as the 26-27 Superintendent. Dr. Coffey will be officially starting in July.

PANCO Speech Results
PANCO Speech was held February 11 in Mitchell and the Hay Springs Speech team brought home a lot of hardware:
Aubry Anderson: 1st PANCO in POI and Serious prose, 3rd POI in small schools
Jacob Dorshorst: 1st PANCO and 3rd small schools
Cade McKillip: 1st PANCO and small schools for Extemp and 3rd in PANCO for Persuasive.
Duet: Emma Albrecht and Bailey Hankins, 3rd in PANCO.
OID: Emma Albrecht, Jacob Dorhorst, Bailey Hankins, 1st PANCO and 3rd overall.

MathCounts
The middle school MathCounts Team participated in the Western Nebraska Chapter Competition on Wednesday, February 11th in Scottsbluff. The team, consisting of Merritt Albrecht, Willow Frink, Barrett Heiting, Hudson Persons, Elly Reimann, and Milo Smith, completed three different rounds of competition and ended the day with the Most Improved School award.
