Congratulations to Jocelyn Varvel for placing 3rd at the D1 state speech competition!

Congratulations to the Hawk speech team who competed at district speech held on Monday, March 1 at South Platte School in Big Springs.

Finalist were:
Abbey Russell – 6th place persuasive

Emily & Abby Nelson – 6th place duet acting

Mia Skinner – 5th place informative & 5th place entertainment

Jett Rasmussen, Sam Hindman, Gabriel Varvel, Jocelyn Varvel & Kaden Langford – 4th place OID

Jett Rasmussen – 4th place humorous prose

Jocelyn Varvel – 2nd place entertainment

Jocelyn also qualified for state speech held in Kearney, NE on Friday, March 19.

Saturday was a great day in Hemingford for the Hawk speech team!

Hay Springs as a team were the runners up!

We will be hosting a family speech day on Saturday at 10am for the students families to watch their performances (as they are still not allowed to attend the meets) and then we are off to districts on Monday, March 1st at South Platte.

The first Hay Springs Speech Meet was held on Saturday, February 15th. All of the speech students competed well! The following students placed within the top 6 of their given events:

3rd in Duet Cadell Brunsch & Chaz Twarling

The Hay Springs speech team is heavy into getting events put together and performances ready. As of now, we have approximately 15 members and are looking to have a complete team! This is quite an accomplishment considering we are in our second year! Students will have practices on Friday’s. Be on the look-out for speech updates as the season gets underway!
