New Summer Lunch & Breakfast Program

newJune 3rd will mark the beginning of the 2nd year for Hay Springs School’s Summer Lunch program. Even more exciting is that a Summer Breakfast Program will also begin. Breakfast will be served from 7:30 a.m. until 8 a.m. and lunch will be served from 11:30 to 12:30, both served Monday through Thursday. Children 18 and under eat for free. For adults, breakfast will be $1.80 and lunch will be $3.30. All meals will be served at the Hay Springs School Cafeteria.

The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) provides healthy meals to children, age 18 and younger, free of charge. The children do not have to be attending Hay Springs Schools to come and enjoy a lunch or breakfast. Spring Book Fair

readingThe Spring Book Fair is is underway.   Sales will continue after school each day until Monday, March 25.  As always, we will be open Thursday evening during Parent-Teacher Conferences.  Students will preview books on Monday, March 18, and Tuesday, March 19.

The online store will also be available.  The online store has a wider variety of books for all ages.  The books from the online sales will be delivered to the school – no shipping charges.  They come about one to two weeks after the book fair closes. Tractor Safety Training Announced

tractorBelow are the tractor safety training dates for 2013.  Sheridan County youth under 16 years of age and wanting to work on a farm or ranch (other than their parents’ or grandparents’ place) must have this training to operate a tractor. For further information, contact:

Early Dimissal – November 13th

Hay Springs Public Schools will dismiss school at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, November 13.  Teachers will have an in-service to prepare for the upcoming School Improvement/External Visitation Visit.  There will be no After School Program that night.  Buses will run their regular route at 2:10 pm.

Grab-n-Go Breakfast

Beginning October 1st, middle school and high school students will have a “grab-n-go” option for breakfast. The cost will be the same but menu items will be able to be taken to their lockers and eaten when convenient for the student.

Recipe Contest

New contest! The kitchen is looking for new menu ideas.  There will be a suggestion box located in the cafeteria on top of the microwave oven.  Students and staff are encouraged to write down their menu suggestions along with recipes to place in this box.  You can also email your suggestions to wendy.palmer@panesu.org.  Each time your menu suggestion is used, your meal is free!
