Joleen Pieper, Rita Peters, Cheri Johnson, and Marlene Heiting, from the sewing club, came and helped 4th graders hand stitch an Oregon Trail mini quilt. The 4th graders loved learning to sew but they didn’t really want to do a whole quilt by hand.
Hay Springs Public Schools will be taking part in Strategic Planning this year, similar to what our district did last year. We are partnering with the Nebraska School Boards Association again this year and will be sending out surveys to the parents whose email addresses that we have on file. We ask you to take the survey and share your view point on all aspects of our district.
Employees, Board Members, Parents and Students (5-12) will be provided the opportunity to take the survey starting on January 23rd. The school district will utilize the feedback from the surveys to set goals to keep improving the educational process and experience for our students. Names of those who take the survey will not be shared with the school.

Hay Springs Public Schools Board of Education has a vacancy effective January 10th, 2023. In accordance with state law, the School Board will begin the process of appointing an individual to complete the remainder of this term (2 years) which will continue until December 31st, 2024.
The Hay Springs Board of Education is encouraging community members to consider this volunteer position in support of public education and the students of Hay Springs Public Schools. Letters of interest will be accepted until February 6th, at 5:00 p.m. Qualified applicants must be a registered voter and a resident of the Hay Springs School District.
The School Board will interview applicants during the regular February school board meeting on February 13th at 6:30 p.m. The school board will make the appointment of a candidate to the Board of Education following the interviews. The newly appointed board member will take the oath of office at the February Board meeting, and begin his/her term on the Board at that time.

Due to the severe wind chill temperatures projected for the remainder of the week, Hay Springs Schools are canceling school on Wednesday, December 21st and Thursday December 22nd.

The December School Board Meeting will be held tonight(Monday, Dec. 19th) at 6:30 PM in the cafeteria.

-One Act public performance scheduled for Friday, December 16th has been canceled.

-The girls and boys basketball game scheduled for tomorrow against Creek Valley has been moved to this Friday, December 16th. -HSPS was notified that the state will be closing HWY 87 at 3:00 pm, therefore school will be dismissed at 1:00 pm. Bus will run accordingly. All activities for tonight are postponed. Hay Springs Junior High Girls Basketball will not be playing this afternoon due to road closures. We are looking at a possible reschedule for next week. There will be NO High school varsity games vs. Hemingford tonight!
