Spring 2026 eSports Season

The Hay Springs eSports Team wrapped up an excellent Spring season on Friday, April 17 at the State eSports Championships held at Doane University in Crete, NE. Five players made the long trip, but brought back a lot of hardware for their efforts.

Our Fortnite team(Arian Mata, Cade McKillip, Kooper Scott, and Tanner Tobiasson) played their competition remotely(all teams played online from their own schools) on March 28 and fought hard to secure a State Runner-Up title for Division 4 Fortnite Battle Royale. They were narrowly beat out by EMF(Exeter-Milligan-Friend) who seemed to have luck on their side. The group who went to Crete were very happy to bring back the medals and trophy for the Fortnite players!

As for the teams who played in person at the Championships, our Hearthstone team(Ileana Reimann) brought home a 3rd place medal for Division 4 Hearthstone on her first trip to state competition. The competition was pretty fierce from her opponents, but she never gave up.

Our Mario Kart 8 team(Tanner Tobiasson, Larry Nelson, Cooper Krotz, and Dutch Weaver(who was subbing in for Jacob Dorshorst)), raced hard and just squeaked ahead of Eustis-Farnam to bring home the trophy for Division 4 State Champion Mario Kart 8! The team was ranked number one throughout the regular season and secured the number 1 seed going into the playoffs. A quick victory over Elgin set them up for the championship game against Eustis-Farnam.

Great job and congratulations to all of our players for a fun and exciting season! Be sure to congratulate them and ask them about their games the next time you see them.
