One Act Performing “This Just In”

Please be sure to support our One Act Play program by attending one(or more!) of the following performances! They will be performing the play “This Just In” about a radio show from the 1940s.

There will be a non-public performance for the school only on Thursday, November 18th, at 3:15 PM.

The community performance will be on Monday, November 29th at 6:30 PM. Free will donations will be accepted, but there will be no admission charge.

The competition performances, which are open to the public, will be held at the following locations and times:
Morrill – Friday, Nov. 19th @ 1:30 PM
Chappell – Wednesday, Dec. 1st @ 11:45 AM

District One Act Information

The Hay Springs Once Act team will be participating in the D1-6 District competition on Tuesday, December 1st at Creek Valley High School in Chappell. The team was originally supposed to perform at 4:30. However, due to a team having to remove themselves from the competition; the team will now be performing at 1:30. Leave time is scheduled to be about 10:00. Once the team receives their critiques they will be leaving to come back to Hay Springs, about 2:30. Good Luck Hawks!

PanCo One Act Play Information

The Hay Springs One Act team will be participating in the Panhandle Conference One Act competition on Friday, November 20th in Hemingford. Because of Covid-19 restrictions, only judges and coaches will only be allowed to watch the play. Unfortunately, because of copyright laws streaming will not be available. Hay Springs will be performing at 10:00 am. Leave from the school will be at 8:10 am.  The team will be returning after receiving their critique. The return time will be around noon.

One Act Competition

Hay Springs Public School was excited to be able to host the 2019 Panhandle Athletic Conference One Act Competition last Friday, November 22nd.  The competition was held in the auditorium and five area schools participated.  First up was Hay Springs with their performance of Citizen’s Arrest, followed by Crawford(The Monkey’s Paw), Hemingford(Spy School), Sioux County(Cinderella Wore Combat Boots), and finishing up the day, Morrill(Night Witches).  Both Jett Rasmussen and Joce Varvel received honorable mentions and Hay Springs took 4th place overall, with the number one spot going to Hemingford.  Best Actor went to Carter Buchheit and best Actress went to Ashton Hoffman.  Be sure to catch the upcoming performances of Citizen’s Arrest on Monday, December 2nd at 7:00 PM and also on Tuesday, December 3rd at 2:00 PM!  Congratulations to all participants!

Mark Your Calendar! Upcoming Events

-The Veteran’s Day program will be held on Monday, November 11th 2019 at 10:30 AM. Mr. Keith Kearns and Ira McKillip will be the guest speakers. Veterans are invited to stay for lunch following the program.

-Picture retakes have been scheduled for November 12th.

-Lions Club Health Screening is scheduled for November 14th.

-The Hay Springs High School One Act Play team will be performing “Citizen’s Arrest” by Bobby Keniston. There will be two public performances TBA and the team will be competing at PANCO in Edgemont on Friday, November 22nd. Districts will be held in early December, TBA.
