The Hay Springs Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) booster club is preparing for another school year. The mission of FCA is to present to athletes and coaches and all whom they influence the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the church.

The booster club has set up a tentative date to start up the huddle.

• Monday, September 9th – Huddle start with the Junior High and High School Students in Lister during lunch. This Huddle will continue on a weekly basis every Monday. You do not have to be an athlete to attend.

You will also see us serving in concession stands or serving meals at games. The use of these funds is to help pay for Hay Springs student athletes to attend summer camps. With generous donations we helped send 10 student athletes from Hay Springs and 2 from Gordon-Rushville this past summer to attend FCA camp in Spearfish, SD.

We would also like to recognize the wonderful coaches and athletic director who devote their time, talents and service to our athletes. Thank you for all that you do!

The Hay Springs FCA Huddle continues to meet each week on Monday’s during the Junior High and High School lunch hour.  We are currently working through The Called to Compete Curriculum presented each week by Nebraska coach, Ron Brown.  It’s fun to watch the students grow in their passion for the game and their walk of faith.

We have some very important upcoming events and camps.  We are again planning to host a fun night sometime in late February or early March and an end of year event in May.  I will keep the students posted on the dates for those events.  If you are not familiar with these events, we typically invite a CSC athlete to speak, eat some food and play games.

Most importantly, the Hay Springs FCA is willing to pay for any interested student-athlete to attend one of the camps below.

• Distance Running Camp June 11-14 Scottsbluff, NE
• Black Hills Sports Camp June 18-22 Spearfish, SD

(Sports Available: Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Track & Field, Cross Country, Tennis, Golf and Swimming)

Bus transportation is available from Chadron

These camps are high quality camps hosted by Division I and II coaches and athletes.  Any parent or student is encouraged to speak with Jason Badje or Jim Varvel in regards to the program or camp.  Information can also be found on the Nebraska FCA website at www.nebraskafca.org.

See You at the Pole is a student-led, student-initiated movement of prayer that revolves around students praying together on the third Wednesday of September, usually before school and usually at the school’s flagpole. It involves students in elementary schools, middle/junior high schools, high schools, and colleges/ universities all over the world. Hay Springs students participated in this national day. Prayer was led by Fellowship of Christian Athletes member Austin Weyers.

•  Monday, August 20^th – Huddle starts with the Junior High and High School Kids -Distance Learning room during lunch – this Huddle will continue on a weekly basis every Monday

•  Wednesday, Aug. 22^nd – Coach’s breakfast from 7:15 to 8:00 a.m. in the cafeteria

•    Friday, August 31^st – Serve meal to players and coaches of both teams after the Rapid City Christian Football game

Our goal is also to continue to host some events for the kids on a quarterly basis and will continue to keep the school and community posted on those events when scheduled.  If anyone has any questions in regards to FCA or wants to become involved please don’t hesitate to give me a call at (308) 320-4445.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes has planned their next fun night for Monday, April 30th beginning at 6:00 p.m. or after sports practices. EVERYONE grades 6-12 is welcome. Join us on the football field!

A Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) booster club was recently organized in the Hay Springs school and community.  The mission of FCA is to present to athletes and coaches and all whom they influence the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the church.  The booster club has four areas of influence and they are campus, coaches, community and camps.  We are very excited to announce that we have started a campus huddle on Mondays during the junior high and high school lunch hours.  Mr. Badje is leading the huddle as we dive into several areas including the Gospel and Doing Sports God’s Way.

We also have scholarship funds for summer camps available to Hay Springs junior high and high school students who may want to attend one of the following camps.

June 12^th-15^th – Nebraska FCA Distance Running Camp – Scottsbluff

June 19^th-23^rd – Black Hills Sports Camp – Spearfish

July 6^th-8^th – Max Out Sports Camp – Grand Island

Finally, I wanted to mention that we had an official kick-off event on Thursday, March 15^th that included an encouraging devotion from Mr. Devin Davis from Chadron, pizza and a very fun and exhausting game of dodge-ball.  We are planning to have additional fun nights on Monday, April 30^th, beginning after sports practices and one on Monday, May 21^st tentatively set to begin at 4:30pm.  If anyone has any questions in regards to FCA please don’t hesitate to give me a call.
