Gordon-Rushville Speech Meet

Congratulations to the Hay Springs Speech Team who attended the Gordon-Rushville speech meet on Saturday, January 29th. The Oral Intrepretation of Drama (OID) consisting on Gabriel Varvel, Sam Hindman, Kaden Langford and Jaelyn Rasmussen placed 6th. The OID of Emily Nelson, Taden Tobiasson, Ashley Tobiasson, Logan DeCoste and Abbey Russell placed 5th. Abigail Russell also placed 6th in persuasive speaking. The team will compete on Saturday, February 12th at the Gering speech meet.

Hyannis Basketball

Due to low numbers, there will not be a Girls Junior Varsity game on Friday, February 4th, against Hyannis. The Junior Varsity Boys game will begin at 4:00 PM, and they will be playing two quarters only. Varsity Girls will tip off at 5:00 PM followed by the Varsity Boys at approximately 6:45 PM.

Basketball Updates

-The leave time for Thursday, January 27th has been changed to the following:
Junior High Boys will dismiss at 1:50 PM and leave at 2:00 PM.
High School Boys and Girls will be dismissed at 2:30 PM with a 2:40 PM leave time.

-Due to low numbers, there will be no Junior Varsity boys game against Edgemont on Friday, January 28th. The Junior Varsity girls will play two quarters with a 4:00 PM tip off. Varsity girls will follow with a start time of 5:00 PM. Varsity boys will begin around 6:45 PM.

Schedule Change

Due to low numbers, there will be no junior varsity girls or boys basketball games on Thursday, January 27th, in Sioux County. The junior high boys will play the “A” game only, and it will begin at 4:00. Varsity girls will follow with a tip off scheduled for 5:00. Boys varsity game will begin at approximately 6:45.

INFORMATION SHEET

-Tournament will begin at 9:00 am on January 31, 2022. We will be using a bracket tournament format. Teams were drawn out of a hat. The host team gets a bye. This will be a single elimination tournament.

-Ticket prices will be $5.00 for adults and $4.00 for students. The admission is good for the entire tournament. Cheerleaders, in uniform, will be admitted free along with coaches, managers and bus drivers.

-Presentation of the 1st place plaque will take place after the championship game.

-No passes will be accepted. Coaches, players, managers, and bus drivers will be stamped upon arrival.

-Starting time for the first game will be 9:00 am and will continue throughout the day with games. We will only take a short break before the championship game if one of the final teams must meet the mandatory rest time.

-The team listed on top will be considered the home team. Privileges assigned to the home and visiting teams will be the same as in any game. We ask that the home team be responsible for the official book unless other arrangements are agreed upon in advance.
